He’s probably not recording the cell phone. As for the kitchen cam, if he’s staying in the home with you he probably doesn’t have a cam or you would have seen him watching it. I suspect he knows what you’re talking about because of body language and that he can hear you as he approches the kitchen…and maybe he stops on the way in and listens for a bit.
If you look for an object it will be large (probably hideen) in a book case or cabinet.
